Style Around Town: 4 Spring Trends to Start Wearing Now

Spring is about to kick into high gear in the fashion world. It's time to retire the drib and drab winter clothes and start mixing in spring pieces.

While the temperatures may not feel like it, spring is about to kick into high gear in the fashion world. It's time to retire the drib and drab winter clothes and start mixing in spring pieces (without freezing of course).

Scroll through to see the looks I'm most excited to start test-driving for spring:

1-Crop Tops. I have loved the crop tee since it first made it's way back to the fashion scene in 2011. For some reason, the crops get a bad rep. Too many visualists think back to the Christina Aguilera era circa 1990. Crops don't have to be chancy. In fact, they can be super structured and polished looking (when done right).

The Mix: Pair now with a form-fitting button down underneath your favorite crop tee. Add some high waisted skinnies (or a skirt) to pull the look together. Later in the season, ditch the layers and add some frayed denim.

2- An outfit that's bold and continues to be worn by major style icons (Nicole Richie, Rachel Zoe, Olivia Palermo, and even blogger Lindsi from Lindsi in The Fast Lane)- the Boyfriend Jean. Menswear dressing is fun, but let's remember that we are not borrowing the look, we are stealing it!

The Mix: Start the season off by pairing with a button-down (perhaps a little undone). We don't want to look too structured. Throw on some heels and a long tweed jacket and voila- instant chic! Late spring pair with a light linen tee and funky sandals.

3-White Sneakers. Stepping out in style is always a must. To satisfy your shoe cravings, invest in a pair of fresh white sneakers. Fashion editors and influencers alike have been spotted wearing the trend months ago (always so ahead of the curve). There's something so clean and polished looking when an outfit is paired with a comfy shoe.

The Mix: Start incorporating white sneeks with mixed prints and trousers. I promise this minimalist look is the remedy to a closet soon to be full of neons.

4- Florals. Need I say more? Bold blooms are of course a major trend around town. The print can be fresh, feminine and chic.

The Mix: Have a pair of floral skinnies? Pair with your favorite winter sweater. When the temps heat up swap the sweater for a knit tee.
